ATLANTA – The Texas A&M University-Commerce men's basketball team closed out the Capitol Classic with a 75-61 win over the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at the GSU Convocation Center on Sunday afternoon.
A&M-Commerce pulled away from the Colonels with a 15-2 run in the second half, leading by as many points as 16, and snaps a two-game losing streak to go 2-4 on the season, the Lions won both their games this week. Eastern Kentucky had not lost a game this weekend prior to Sunday, but falls to 3-3 on the season.
The Lions led 36-33 at halftime, butt Eastern Kentucky came out strong to start the second half to take a six-point lead with 13:43 left in the half. The Lions tied the game at 54 and then went on a 15-2 run, not allowing the Colonels to score for nearly four minutes to go up by 15 points.
Demarcus Demonia (Fort Washington, Md.) scored more than half of the points for the Lions in the second half. He shot 9 for 13 from the field for 20 points, while the Lions as a team had 39 points. In the game, Demonia had 22 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
A&M-Commerce shot 47 percent from the field in the game and made 13 of its 39 three-point attempts and was at the free-throw line for just one attempt, which was missed. Eastern Kentucky shot 43.4 percent from the field, 4 of 21 from deep, and 11 for 13 at the Line.
Kalen Williams (Hephzibah, Georgia) totaled 15 points, three rebounds, and one steal.
C.J. Roberts (Irving – Richland) scored 10 points, four rebounds, six assists, and a steal off the bench.
JJ Romer Rosario (Hialeah Gardens, Fla.) had six rebounds to go along with six points, while
Alex Peavy (San Antonio – Smithson Valley) had a stat line of eight points, four rebounds, and one steal.
Devontae Blanton led EKU with 16 points on 5 of 7 shooting from the field.

After playing the first six games of the season on the road, the Lions are back home on November 28 to face Arlington Baptist in the Field House at 7 p.m.
