COMMERCE – The Texas A&M University-Commerce men's basketball team played its only exhibition game of the season on Wednesday night at the Field House, winning 73-64 over the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma.
The Lions led throughout the game, with just one tie in the game. The Drovers pulled to within two in the second half, but were never able to take the lead. A&M-Commerce now prepares for the regular season, which begins on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Dallas against SMU.
Demarcus Demonia (Fort Washington, Md.) was the Lions' leading scorer with 26 points, while
Kalen Williams (Hephzibah, Ga.) had 11 points in his first action as a Lion.
Alonzo Dodd (St. Paul, Minn.) added nine points off the bench, as did
C.J. Roberts (Irving – Richland).
Shooting 40 percent from the field, the Lions had 10 three-pointers. Demonia grabbed nine rebounds and Williams grabbed five. Gerard Makuntae from USAO had 21 points, while Samkelo Cele had 26.
The Lion bench scored 27 points and A&M-Commerce capitalized on 17 points off turnovers.
