HAMMOND, La. – The Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball wrapped up its week with a 3-0 loss to the Southeastern Louisiana Lions at the University Center on Saturday afternoon via set scores of 25-16, 25-20, and 25-13.
A&M-Commerce is back at home on Thursday to host Houston Christian at 6 p.m. in the final home match of the season and wraps up the regular season at Northwestern State next Saturday.
The Lions were led by 24 assists from
Celeste Vela (Guadalajara, Mexico), 11 digs from
Millie Allgood (Sherwood, Ark.), and eight kills each from
Taryn Cast (Peaster),
Maddy Rashford (Placentia, Calif.), and
Yasmin Figueiredo (Rio de Janiero, Brazil).
Lyric Hebert (Arvada, Colo.) added nine digs, Vela had seven, and
Ashley Pennington (Frisco – Liberty) had six digs. Allgood had four kills.
For Southeastern, Cicily Hidalgo had 14 kills and 10 digs. The Lions hit .413 in the match to improve to 21-7 overall and 11-5 in Southland Conference play.
A&M-Commerce falls to 6-10 in conference play and 10-20 overall. The Lions are in seventh place in the conference standings and have a two-match lead over Nicholls, who is in ninth place, with two matches left in the regular season. The top eight teams in the conference make the SLC Tournament, which will be hosted by Southeastern on November 17-19.
