Lion Soccer drops home opener to ULM

COMMERCE – Playing its first home match of the 2022 season at the Lion Soccer Field, the Texas A&M University-Commerce soccer team suffered a 3-0 setback at the hands of the ULM Warhawks on Sunday evening, with all three goals coming off the foot of Inge Konst.

After a one hour 45-minute lightning delay to start the match, the Lions and the Warhawks played a scoreless half on a humid evening. ULM had nine shots and three corners in the first half, including three shots on goal, which were all saved by the Lions' Jen Peters (Allen).

Konst broke the scoreless dreadlock in the 67th minute on an assist from Kedie Johnson, who drove down the field and crossed a pass to Konst, who cleared it bottom left. Her second goal of the match was a penalty kick in the 73rd minute.

Her final goal of the match came from about 30 yards out in the 80th minute, which was just off Peters' reach. In the match, Peters recorded seven saves.

For the Lions, Ashley Campuzano (Dallas – Atlas Life) had five shots, including one shot on goal. Mya Mitchell (Mesquite Horn) recorded three shots on goal, while Melissa Storey (Tyne and Wear, England) and Karalie Morrison (Colleyville Heritage) had two shots each. With the loss, the Lions drop to 0-2 on the season.
