DALLAS – The Texas A&M University-Commerce men's basketball team was dropped 90-47 on Sunday afternoon by the SMU Mustangs at Moody Coliseum.
The Lions fall to 4-6 on the season, while SMU is now 6-3 on the season.
The Mustangs scored the first five points of the game, as A&M-Commerce fell behind 19-3 in the first eight minutes of the game. SMU outscored the Lions, 46-16, in the first half, shooting 76 percent from the field. The 16 points are the least scored in a half by A&M-Commerce and least allowed by SMU in a game this season.
The Lions shot 38.5 percent in the second half, but were stilled outscored, 44-31, by the Mustangs in the period.
Khaliq Abdul-Mateen (Cy-Lakes) came off the bench and led A&M-Commerce in scoring with 12 points, shooting 4 for 6 from the distance.
Jerome Brewer Jr. (Camden, N.J.) added 11 points, while
Kwo Agwa (Calgary, Canada) totaled nine points off the bench.
For the Mustangs, Keon Ambrose-Hylton shot 9 for 9 from the field for his 19 points, Samuell Williamson scored 13, and Zhuric Phelps added 11. SMU outrebounded A&M-Commerce, 36-16.
