MONROE, La. – An early goal from
Hannah Bell was not enough for the Texas A&M University-Commerce soccer team at Brown Stadium on Thursday night, falling 3-1 to the ULM Warhawks.
The Lions have dropped two in a row and sit at 1-3-1 on the season, while the Warhawks are 2-0-2. ULM has won the matchup over A&M-Commerce in each of the last two seasons.
Bell (Duncanville) added her third goal of her freshman season in just the fifth minute on Thursday, it was an unassisted goal.
The Warhawks tied it at one in the 27
th minute on a goal from Vanessa Praher, assisted by Janet Stopka. Mara Grutkamp gave ULM the lead in the 34
th minute on an assist from Vanessa Praher and Sophia Youngman.
In the 45
th minute, Eve Blakey scored on assists from Skylar Blaise and Ally Richardson to put the Warhawks up 3-1.
A&M-Commerce had 11 shots in the match, five going on goal. The Warhawks totaled 19 shots, including 10 on goal. The Lions made seven saves, while ULM made four.
Gillian McKenzie (Mesquite Horn) returned to the lineup and recorded four saves in the second half, while
Sophia Dean (Spring – Grand Oaks) posted three in the first half.
Mindy Shoffit (Wichita Falls – Rider), who came off the bench, led the way with three shots for the Lions.
