Lions move to 3-0 in SLC play with 2-0 win at Southeastern

HAMMOND, La. – Second half goals from Hannah Bell and Kaydence Ramirez powered the Texas A&M University-Commerce soccer team to a 2-0 win on Friday night at Strawberry Field over Southeastern Louisiana.

The Lions have won four matches in a row and are one of two undefeated teams in Southland Conference play. A&M-Commerce is 3-0 against SLC opponents and 5-5-1 overall, while Southeastern drops to 1-2 in SLC matches and 3-7 overall.

"Winning matches in this conference is hard and we have had problems with conceding goals early and understanding key moments," said coach Ashley Gordon. "Tonight, we brought great mentality and competed the full 90 minutes. We look forward to bringing the same intensity on Saturday."

Southeastern recorded eight shots in the first half, with A&M-Commerce's Sophia Dean (Spring – Grand Oaks) making saves on all five shots on goal. A&M-Commerce had three shots in the first half, both shots on goal were saved. SOPHIA DEAN SAVE HIGHLIGHT

A&M-Commerce did not waste time in the second half to take the lead, scoring in the third minute after the break. A turnover at midfield bounced the ball into Lion territory and Camila Montero (Langham Creek) set a long pass for Bell (Duncanville), who put it in the back of the net for her sixth goal of the season, which keeps her in a tie for the SLC lead.   HANNAH BELL GOAL HIGHLIGHT

On the restart, Southeastern dribbled down towards goal and got a golden scoring opportunity with A&M-Commerce committing a foul in the penalty box. Dean read the attempts perfectly and made the save to keep the Lions in front. SOPHIA DEAN PENALTY KICK SAVE HIGHLIGHT
