SUGAR LAND – The Texas A&M University-Commerce men's golf team finished out the fall with a ninth-place finish at the HCU Husky Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Riverbend Country Club.
This week was the final competition of the fall for the Lions, who recorded three top five finishes in the four tournaments competed this fall.
A&M-Commerce posted a team score of 895 over the three rounds, shooting a 298 in the final round. DePaul won the team title over the hosts, Houston Christian, by seven strokes with a score of 866 (285-295-286).
"This week was a very unfortunate way to end a solid semester of golf," said Director of Golf
Brian Dolehide. "We will get some great work in during the off season and prepare to tear it up in the spring."
Cooper Watt (Rockford, Ill.) tied for 25
th with a score of 222 (70-75-77), while both
Janis Erll (Lich, Germany) and
Sam Benson (Gilmer – New Diana) tied for 30
th, both shooting 224 in the tournament and 78-72-74 in the three rounds, respectively.
To round out the Lions,
Nicke Kaajavirta (Kajaani, Finland) and
Matt Walters (Ballito, South Africa) tied for 48
th, each with a score of 230.
Blake Taylor (Mansfield) competed as an individual this week and tied for 54
th with a score of 233 (79-76-78).
The spring schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
