FRISCO – Jade Washington has been named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
In two matches on the road last week, Washington (Waco – Midway) totaled 40 digs in seven sets, for an average of 5.71 digs per set. She had 19 digs and two assists in the three-set over New Orleans on Thursday night and then added 21 digs in the four-set loss at two-time defending SLC champion, Southeastern, on Saturday.
She has earned the first weekly honor in her career, and it is also the first for the Lions this season, who welcome Nicholls on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for Pink Out and then face McNeese on Saturday at 11 a.m.
