COMMERCE – Houston Christian's Ella Remy scored two goals in the second half to give the Huskies a 2-0 win on Thursday night over the East Texas A&M University soccer team at the Lion Soccer Field in the regular season finale.
 
The match was tied through the first 61 minutes, but Remy came into the match and found the back of the net twice to give the Huskies their first ever win over the Lions.
 
The win improves HCU's overall record to 9-8-2 overall and 4-4-2 in Southland Conference action, while East Texas A&M falls to 7-7-4 overall and ends regular season with a 4-2-4 record in SLC action.
 
The Lions finish fourth in the SLC standings, while the Huskies finish fifth. The two teams will play each other in the first round of the Southland Conference Tournament on Tuesday in Beaumont. Match time and the full tournament bracket will be released on Friday morning.
 
For the Huskies, Remy scored first in the 62
nd minute off an assist from Isabella Alamo and then added another goal in the 64
th minute. She has scored four goals in the last three matches.
 
The Lions were outshot 15-9 in the match with only four shots by East Texas A&M landing on goal, which were all saved by Emmy McKeon. 
Gillian McKenzie (Mesquite Horn) recorded eight saves for the Lions.
