COMMERCE – The single game assists record fell on Wednesday for the East Texas A&M University men's basketball team in the 115-44 win over the Dallas Christian Crusaders on the Hunt Regional Healthcare Court in the Field House.
The Lions totaled 41 assists in the lopsided win, shattering the previous record of 36. East Texas A&M fell one attempt shy of tying the program record for most three-point attempts and the 115 points scored are fifth.
The win snaps a three-game losing streak for the Lions as they improve to 2-3 on the season, while the game was an exhibition contest for Dallas Christian.
The Lions started the game by scoring the first 21 points and held a lead as big as 37 in the first half. The largest lead in the game for East Texas A&M was 72 points.
Four Lions scored in double digits, including two off the bench.
Damian Garcia (Houston – Dobie) had 24 points on 9 for 15 shooting and 6 for 8 from deep for his 24 points as well as seven rebounds, while
Ronnie Harrison (Forney) scored 23 points, shooting 9 for 11.
Michael Folarin (London, England) recorded the first double-double for the Lions this season, posting 16 points and 12 rebounds, while
Vinny Sigona (Prestonwood Christian Academy) scored 17 points, going 5 for 10 from deep.
The Lions went 19 for 42 from deep. The 19 attempts made is tied for third and the 42 attempts is third.
Carlas Canady scored 12 to lead the Crusaders, while Dylan Gonzalez added 10.
