COMMERCE – Trinity Egerton and
Kristen Sueltz from the East Texas A&M University soccer team have been named to the Academic All-District Team, as selected by the College Sports Communicators.
Egerton (Garland – Rowlett) has been named to the Academic All-District team for the first time as a Lion following her junior season, while Sueltz (The Colony), also a junior, has earned the honors for the second year in a row.
The Lions have had multiple student-athletes named to the Academic All-District teams for the second year in a row and for the third time in the Division I era. Under fourth-year coach
Ashley Gordon, East Texas A&M has had six Academic All-District honorees.
Egerton was the top defender on the team and started 13 of the 15 matches she played in last season. She scored one goal, which was the match-winner at SFA, and added an assist as well. She is a business administration major at East Texas A&M and has been named to the Dean's List as well as the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Sueltz played every minute for the Lions last season, while scoring career-best three goals. She is a public health major and also has been named to the Southland Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Dean's List. The junior midfielder is one of the team's representatives on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Both Egerton and Sueltz have advanced to the national ballot for consideration to be named to Academic All-America teams, which will be announced in January. The full list of honorees across the country can be found
