COMMERCE – The 2025-26 season began for the East Texas A&M University women's basketball team by scoring the most points in a game since 2018 as the Lions picked up a 113-48 win over the UNT Dallas Trailblazers on Monday afternoon on the Hunt Regional Healthcare Court in the Field House.
 
Every Lion scored in the game as East Texas A&M won the season opener for the seventh year in a row. The 113 points are the most for the program since scoring 128 against Dallas Christian in 2018. The Trailblazers and the Lions played on opening night for the third time in four years.
 
The Lions were led in scoring by 
Sarah Gatwech (Lincoln, Neb.), who scored 23 points off the bench on 9 for 11 shooting, while 
Reza Po (San Bruno, Calif.) scored 16 points. Off the bench as well, 
Nina Horvath (Oberwart, Austria) tallied 16 points and 
Rezia Castillo (Houston – Clear Brook) scored 13 in her collegiate debut.
 
The largest lead in the game for the Lions was 65 points, which came on the final basket of the game. 
Terrayah McCoy (Princeton) also made her collegiate debut on Monday and added 11 points.
 
Channing Beauvais led the Trailblazers with 12 points. The Lions shot 52.5 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from deep as well as 20 for 23 at the line.
