STILLWATER, Okla. – Holding the East Texas A&M University women's basketball team scoreless for nearly 10 minutes of Wednesday night's game action, the No. 22 ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls collected a 97-59 win at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The game was tied at 18 in the first quarter as the Lions fought back from being down 11 to go on a 13-2 run, but Oklahoma State did not allow a point for the final 6:55 of the second quarter to build a 21-point lead at the half, closing out the half. on a 18-2 run.
The Lions fall to 1-1 on the season, while Oklahoma State is now 2-0, with both wins coming over Southland Conference opponents. The Cowgirls were ranked No. 22 in both the AP and WBCA polls coming into the season.
Reza Po (San Bruno, Calif.) was the Lion leading scorer as she totaled 19 points on 6 for 9 shooting, while
Cora Horvath (Oberwart, Austria) added 11 points.
Sarah Gatwech (Lincoln, Neb.) had team-best five rebounds.
OSU had the 48-20 advantage in rebounding as well as 23-3 edge in second chance points. Haleigh Timmer's 22 points led the way for the Cowgirls as she shot 6 for 7 from deep. Stailee Heard added 15 points, while Achol Akot, Amari Whiting, and Micah Gray had 13 points each.
