JONESBORO, Ark. – The East Texas A&M University men's golf team is in ninth place at the Arkansas State Spring Invitational following the first two rounds on Monday at the RidgePointe Country Club.
This is the final tournament for the Lions prior to the Southland Conference Championships next week. East Texas A&M totaled a score of 595 after the two rounds, two strokes ahead of Western Illinois and two back of Bradley.
The hosts, Arkansas State, hold a 19-stroke lead atop the leaderboard in the 10-team tournament. The Red Wolves' Jake Lile leads all golfers by five strokes with a score of 133 on Monday.
Sam Benson (Gilmer – New Diana) is tied for 18
th with a total of 146 (77-69), climbing 34 spots on the leaderboard in the second round.
Nicke Kaajavirta (Kajaani, Finland) is tied for 40
th with a score of 151 (78-73), while
Cooper Watt (Rockford, Ill.),
Janis Erll (Lich, Germany), and
Matt Walters (Ballito, South Africa) are tied for 44
th with scores of 152.
