FORT COLLINS, Colo. – With a crowd of 3,183 at hand to watch the East Texas A&M University volleyball team take on Colorado State on Thursday night at Moby Arena, the Lions fell in four sets via set scores of 25-16, 25-20, 18-25, and 25-10.
The Rams won the Mountain West Conference a year ago and played in the NCAA Tournament. Colorado State is now 4-3 on the season, while the Lions fall to 0-7, the first 0-7 start in the Division I era.
CSU led 9-8 in the first set and then used a 6-2 run, to pull ahead, 15-10. Leading by as much as nine, the Rams took the first set on an assisted block by Brooke Holman and Kekua Richards.
The Rams won four of the first five points of the second set and though the Lions came back to tie the set at seven, the Rams jumped back ahead by five, closing out the set on a kill by Eve Wilson.
With the third set tied at seven, the Lions used a 3-0 run to jump ahead and did not trail again in the set. After a 3-0 run by the Rams to come to within 17-16, the Lions won five of the next six and won their lone set of the night on an attacking error.
LIONS THIRD SET WIN HIGHLIGHT
In the fourth set, the Rams led 5-1 and despite the Lions winning three in a row to get to 6-4, CSU won the next five points. The last seven points of the match went to the Rams, who clinched their fourth win of the season on a kill by Richards.
Jade Washington (Waco – Midway) totaled 19 digs, while
Haley Mullaney (Victory Christian Academy) added 16 assists,
Katelyn Pritchard (McAllen) had 15 assists,
MJ Klaumann (Emerald Isle, N.C.) blocked four, and
Gracie Campbell (Klein Oak) posted eight kills.

The Lions close out the trip to Colorado on Saturday at 1 p.m. central against Notre Dame.
