Game Recap: Soccer |

OSU scores four in 10 minutes to down Lion Soccer

COMMERCE – Four goals in less than 10 minutes was all that the Oklahoma State Cowgirls needed to win 5-1 over the East Texas A&M University soccer team on Thursday night at the Lion Soccer Field.

The Cowgirls played in the NCAA Tournament last season and are now 4-3-1 on the season, while the Lions end non-conference play with a record of 3-5, which are the most regular season non-conference wins in the Division I era. Prior to this season, the Lions had just three regular season non-conference wins in the last three seasons.

The first goal of the night came in the ninth minute by Ellie Geoffroy, assisted by Chloe Wright. A shot off a corner kick was blocked, and Geoffroy scored her first goal of the season.

In the 13th minute, Geoffroy added her second goal of night on a shot from the top of the box, with Emmy Hedden earning the assist. Just 42 seconds later, Reganne Morris took advantage of a long pass from Sonora De Fini and Ellie Geoffroy.

Hedden fired off a goal from 35 yards away in the 18th minute to make it 4-0 Cowgirls. The Cowgirls scored four goals on their first six shots of the match.

The Lions scored their only goal of the match from the penalty spot in the 47th minute. Judith Nandwa (Mumias, Kenya) drew a foul and the penalty kick was converted by Mya Mitchell (Dallas – Mesquite Horn), her fifth goal of the season. MYA MITCHELL GOAL HIGHLIGHT

Emma Alvord drew a foul in the box to earn a penalty kick for OSU in the 62nd minute and she converted the attempt to push the Cowgirl lead back up to four.

OSU had the 19-10 advantage in shots as well as 6-4 in corner kicks. Mitchell led the way with four shots for the Lions.
