HOUSTON – The Houston Christian Huskies scored 27 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to down the East Texas A&M University football team, 43-24, on Saturday night at Husky Stadium.

The Lions entered the final period with a 24-16 lead, but the Huskies held the Lions to just 73 yards of offense in the fourth quarter, while scoring four touchdowns on their way to their first win over East Texas A&M since 2023.

The loss drops the Lions to 2-5 on the season and 2-3 against Southland opponents, while the Huskies are 4-3 overall and tied for second in the conference with a record of 3-1.

The Lions jumped ahead 3-0 in the game with a 33-yard field goal from Ozlo Rigby (Panama City Beach, Fla.), but the Huskies answered with 10 points in the second quarter for a 10-3 lead at halftime.

On the third play of the second half, Luke Glass (Prestonwood Christian Academy) found Sean Sallis for a 65-yard touchdown reception. The Lions forced a fumble on the ensuing drive and EJ Oakmon (Pflugerville) punched in a 4-yard touchdown run for a 17-10 lead.

The Huskies answered with a touchdown on the other end, but the point-after attempt was blocked by the Lions. Tanner Harrison (St. Martinville, La.) rushed in a 5-yard touchdown to cap off another Lion drive in the third, but the Lions were held without a point for the final 18:44 of the game.

Glass made his first career start for the Lions, going 19 for 35 with a touchdown and two interceptions, totaling 237 passing yards. Oakmon rushed for 103 yards. The Lions outgained the Huskies, 410-362.

Defensively, both Orion Kupu (Chandler, Ariz.) and David Spruiells (South Oak Cliff) had seven tackles each. Kupu also recovered a fumble, which was forced by Duncan Parham (Norman, Okla.), who had four tackles, including 1.5 tackles for a loss.
