Lion Soccer Ties HCU 1-1, Reed Scores Equalizer

HOUSTON – Allyson Reed tallied the equalizer, as the East Texas A&M University soccer team played Houston Christian to a 1-1 tie on Thursday night at Sorrels Field.

ET held a 12-6 shot advantage, including 7-2 after halftime. The Lions have recorded at least 12 shots in two consecutive matches.

"Our team's effort tonight was tremendous," said coach Ashley Gordon. "We made a couple of adjustments at halftime that helped us take control in the second half, and the quality of our play in the final third ultimately led to the equalizer. I'm pleased that we've earned points in each of our last three matches, but we know there's still work to do. We'll get home, recover, and turn our focus toward preparing for our next opponent."

HCU went ahead in the first half on Olivia Rossman's goal at 16:35, assisted by Isabella Dillow. The Lions answered with pressure in the next stretch, including two shots from Reed (Cleburne), a corner kick and a Kristen Sueltz (The Colony) attempt at 31:12. Addisen Ramirez (Waxahachie) later hit the top woodwork at 43:56, but the Lions went into halftime trailing 1-0.

Reed brought the Lions level in the second half, scoring off Ramirez's assist at 61:27 to make it 1-1. ET kept pressing late with five shots from 75:50 to 85:37 and a corner kick at 86:00, but the half closed without another goal as the match ended tied 1-1.
