FRISCO – East Texas A&M University has swept this week's Southland Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week awards this week with Anete Randma and Samuel Pepe being highlighted by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Lion duo helped both the men and the women finish third at the Southwestern Showdown last week in Georgetown. The women had the second-best performance among Division I teams in the field, while the men were tops among Division I teams.
 
Randma (Tallinn, Estonia) has been named a Southland Cross Country Runner of the Week for the first time in her career, she timed 22:12.8 in the six-kilometer race for second, which is also a new personal-best. She has been the top finisher for the Lions in each of their two races this season.
 
Pepe (Hillsboro) clocked in at 26:52.2 for fourth in the race, being his personal-best time in the distance this season, which is first season at East Texas A&M.
