Nicholls edges out Lion Football, 32-31

THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls Colonels outscored the East Texas A&M University football team, 25-7, in the second half to edge out the Lions 32-31, on Saturday evening at the John L. Guidry Stadium.

The Lions held a 24-7 lead at halftime, but the Colonels scored the first 17 points of the second half to tie at 24 with 11:12 left in the game.

EJ Oakmon (Pflugerville) rushed in a five-yard touchdown with 3:36 left in the game to cap off a seven-play 80-yard drive. The ensuing kick-off went out of bounds and the Colonels drove down 65 yards and punched it in with a one-yard touchdown rush by Chase Richardson with 47 seconds left. Richardson connected with Chantz Babineaux for a two-point attempt and put the Colonels in front.

Despite the Lions getting the ball back with 34 seconds left, Nicholls secured the win with an interception on the first play and moved to 3-0 all-time against the Lions.
