COMMERCE – All five starters scored in double digits for the East Texas A&M University men's basketball team in its 70-53 win over Southeastern Louisiana on Monday afternoon at the Hunt Regional Healthcare Court in the Field House.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for East Texas A&M, who improve to 11-17 overall and 6-12 in Southland Conference play, while Southeastern dropped its first ever game in the Field House and falls to 8-19 overall and 5-13 in conference play.
The Lions remain in a tie for eighth place in the conference standings with four games to play.
The game was tied at eight with 12:28 left in the first, East Texas A&M then put together a 13-0 run and did not trail again in the game and the lead was never less than at least eight points. Southeastern was held without a point for a stretch of five minutes.
East Texas A&M shot 50 percent from the field in the first half with
Gianni Hunt (Lakewood, Calif.) totaling 12 points and
Ronnie Harrison (Forney) scoring 10 in the first half.
Despite a string of six straight points cut the deficit down to 12 at the 15:26 mark, East Texas A&M answered with a 6-0 run of its own and increased its lead to as high as 22.
Hunt finished the game with 15 points and six rebounds, while Harrison totaled 14 points and seven rebounds.
Damian Garcia (Houston – Dobie) added 14 points as well as five rebounds and then 12 points came from
Tay Mosher (The Colony), while
Noah Pagotto (Wollongong, Australia) tallied another double-double racking up 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Jaiden Lawrence had team-best 13 points off the bench for Southeastern.
