BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – East Texas A&M University women's golfers Marie Baertz and Tais Moreno finished in the top five as the Lions finished fourth at The Lady Clerico this week at the Hillcrest Country Club.
 
Baertz (Luxembourg) led the Lions with a third-place finish at 220, while Moreno (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) placed fifth at 224. The Lions posted rounds of 304, 308 and 304 in the stroke-play event.
 
"I'm proud of how we performed this week. We had a chance the whole time, and we believed in ourselves. When it came down to it, we didn't fully execute on the game plan for today, but we're just beginning to scratch the surface of this group's potential. And this week makes me excited about our future," said coach Michael Shedd.
 
HCU won the tournament by five strokes over Oral Roberts, while Lamar's Matilda Samervong was the individual winner with a score of 217.
 
Hannah Antunes (Waco – China Spring) tied for 19^th at 235, Becky Baberg (Asendorf, Germany) tied for 38^th at 246, and Gimena Errecart (Mar Del Plata, Argentina) placed 40^th at 247.
