TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa Golden Hurricane rolled to a 42-0 win over the East Texas A&M University football team on Saturday night at H.A. Chapman Stadium.
The Lions fall to 1-3 on the season and 0-5 against NCAA Division I FBS opponents since moving up to Division I. The Golden Hurricane, who came into the week receiving votes in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Polls, are 3-0 on the season.
East Texas A&M was shut out for the first time in 24 games and second time in the last 12 years, being last shutout on September 21, 2024, in a home 34-0 loss to Sac State.
In the first quarter, the Golden Hurricane jumped ahead 14-0, despite a fumble recovery by the Lions'
Kai Baugh (Oroville, Calif.) in the quarter. The Lions held Tulsa without a point in the second half, but the Golden Hurricane returned the opening kick of the second half for a 98-yard touchdown to go up 21-0.
The Lions went 0 for 1 in field goal attempts, missing from 39 yards and two Lion offensive drives were stalled in the Golden Hurricane red zone, one via turnover on downs and another with the missed field goal.
