COMMERCE – Ahead of the 2026 football home opener on Saturday, September 12, the East Texas A&M University Department of Athletics has announced several enhancements to the game day experience inside Ernest Hawkins Field at Memorial Stadium.
 
With the goal of creating a more family-friendly and affordable experience, this year's enhancements include an in-stadium kid zone, new concession options and facility improvements throughout the west-side concourse, including renovated restrooms and new lighting.
 
CONCOURSE UPGRADES
Enhancements on the west side of the stadium are nearing completion and include new LED lighting throughout the concourse, installation of specialized netting designed to prevent nesting birds in the concourse, and complete renovations of both the men's and women's restrooms.
 
FAMILY-FRIENDLY GAME DAY IN NORTHEAST TEXAS
New this season is an in-game kid zone in partnership with Northeast Texas Gellyball, which will be located on the east side grass. The kid zone will feature an inflatable bounce house and slide, balloon artist, face painters along with a mini football field painted onto the grass.
 
As part of the enhanced family-friendly experience, a pregame high-five tunnel will also be introduced this season for fans ages 12 and under. An announcement will be made during pregame inviting young fans to gather near the videoboard and form a tunnel for the Lion football team to run through as it takes the field.
 
In addition, concession menu items have been revamped to offer more kid-friendly and affordable options, while in-game music will feature selections designed to appeal to fans of all ages.
 
Food trucks will also be available in the tailgating area and inside the stadium, providing additional food options for fans.
 
NEW IN-GAME ENTERTAINMENT ELEMENTS
Also new this season is an in-game host who will bring the action into the stands and engage with fans throughout the game. Additional game day enhancements include the Fieldhouse Sports T-Shirt Toss, new and improved in-game contests, and interactive elements on the videoboard.
 
TICKETS
Season and single-game tickets remain on sale for the entire 2026 season. Family Four-Packs are available for all games and include a $10 concession voucher when purchased prior to game day.
 
To provide the best possible gameday experience, fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance to avoid increased ticket prices on game days.
