For the first time in program history, your A&M-Commerce Lions will be hosting the NCAA Division II National Semifinals! After taking out the No. 1 team in the country on their home field, the Lions will welcome Harding University for the National Semifinal.
This is your one stop information source for all things related to the Lions' 2017 NCAA playoff berth. This will provide as much initial clarity as possible, and will be updated with information in advance of the game as details are finalized.
PLEASE NOTE: this is an official NCAA Championship event being hosted on our campus, NOT a traditional home game.Â
There will be more of a neutral game day feel (video board, public address announcements, etc.).
How do the playoffs work?
The NCAA Division II Football Committee announced the field of 28 teams for the 2017 NCAA Division II Football Championship with seven teams filling out each of the Super Region brackets. 12 first-round games were conducted on the campus of the higher seeded institution in each region last weekend. One team per super regional earned a first-round bye.
The regional winners have advanced to the national semifinal round with games on the campus of the higher seeded competing institutions. Winners in this round will advance to the championship game on December 16, at 4 p.m. at Sporting Park in Kansas City, which will be broadcast live on ESPN2 HD/ESPN3.

Absolutely! In addition to a wonderful sense of pride and community fulfillment, you are also helping us sell out of our playoff allotment. Please email Lion Champions Fund Executive Director Taylor Phelps (taylor.phelps@tamuc.edu)Â any questions about your donation.
