Elisha Olabode joined the Lion coaching staff prior to the 2017 season as both a cornerbacks coach and Community Service Director. He brings with him three years of playing experience in the Indoor Football League and four years experience as a defensive back at TCU.

During the 2017 National Championship season, the Lions again sported one of the top secondaries in the country. The team ranked 11th in the country in opponent passing efficiency, 15th in scoring defense (16.7 ppg), 20th in red zone defense and ninth in interceptions (19). 11 different Lions recorded interceptions, including three each from Yusef Sterling-Lowe and Dominique Ramsey.
Two cornerbacks were named to the All-Conference team in 2017. The most decorated was Yusef Sterling-Lowe, who was named a Second Team All-American by both the AFCA and D2Football.com. He was a First Team All-LSC selection. Darent White was also named to the Honorable Mention team.
During the 2017 season, Olabode also helped plan and implement the Lion football team's cleanup after Hurricane Harvey hit the region of Houston. After the Lions' game against A&M-Kingsville, the team helped clean up Port Aransas, which was severely hit by the hurricane. The cleanup resulted in nearly 400 hours of community service by the 90-plus man cleanup crew.
Prior to joining the Lion staff, Olabode played in the IFL, playing for the Wichita Falls Nighthawks, where he played defensive back. He played in nine games during the 2016 season, recording 47 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. During the 2015 season, he had 39 tackles, one interception and eight pass breakups in 10 games.

Olabode played his college career at TCU, where he started in 22 games for the Horned Frogs and played in 47 games at corner back, safety and on special teams. During his freshman season, he was a part of the defense that helped TCU win the Rose Bowl. He was a full time starter in his junior and senior years

During his freshman year, he was one of only three true freshmen to see action. During his junior year, he started in all 13 games and was named to the All-Big 12 Honorable Mention team. In his career at TCU, he tallied 152 tackles, five tackles for loss, five interceptions 19 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

As a player at Cedar Hills High School, Olabode was named First Team All-State and Class 5A Dallas-Fort Worth All-Area team as a senior. He was ranked as the No. 9 safety in the state of Texas and No. 54 safety in the country after his senior season.

Olabode graduated from TCU in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in general studies.
