Famika Anae

Famika Anae enters his second season as the Lions' offensive line coach in 2020.

Under Anae's leadership the line blocked for one of the nation's most efficient passers and a top three offense in the Lone Star Conference. Tackle Amon Simon was named to two All-American teams and was the LSC's Offensive Lineman of the Year, guard Deion Malone was named All-Region and first team all-LSC, and center Christian Hernandez earned all-LSC honorable mention.

He previously had coaching stops at Dixie State University (tight ends coach and video coordinator), University of Virginia (Assistant Offensive Line) and Brigham Young University Assistant Offensive Line).

Anae was highly recruited out of high school.  He received offers from Oregon, UCLA, BYU, Texas Tech, Colorado, and West Virginia.  After choosing BYU, Famika had a stellar career. He was a two-year letter winner at Brigham Young University on the offensive line. He earned a starting position as a sophomore and never relinquished the nod. He was known as a tenacious and dedicated player, receiving All-Independent honors in 2012.

He garnered many accolades from coaches and players, being nominated for and receiving several prestigious awards.  The awards included BYU All Tradition, Spirit, and he was inducted to the Honor Team in 2012.

In high school, Anae was an all-state performer on both the offensive and defensive lines. An accomplished multi-sport athlete, he also received all-state honorable mention in basketball.

Anae received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brigham Young University.  Coach Anae and wife Tessi Leila Tolutau have two daughters, Liane and Savani. Both Anae and his wife’s families are from Laie, Hawaii. He loves to spend time with his family in their native homeland during his time off. His father, a former national champion at BYU as a player, is currently the offensive coordinator at Virginia.

His hobbies include spending time with family, playing guitar and ukulele, playing Madden, and following college and NBA basketball.
