Grant Cason joined the Lion coaching staff in 2016 as a defensive line coach. During the 2017 season, he started to assist coaching linebackers. He also assists in recruiting operations for the defense.
Prior to coaching at A&M-Commerce, Cason served for five years in the Army. He completed basic training at Fort Leonardwood in Missouri and completed AIT at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. He was a member of the MOS 14G Air Defense Artillery. Cason was stationed with HHC 1st Air Cavalry Brigade at Fort Hood, Texas as a member of ADAM Cell in 2015. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his service.
Cason was also an All-Star Fullback in the Minor Professional Football League in both 2014 and 2015. Prior to his service in the army, Cason played football at Paul Pewitt High School, where he was an All-District Guard in both his sophomore and junior seasons. He graduated in 2010 as part of the National Honor Society.
