Jay Williams

Javaris Williams

Javaris Williams is entering his third season with A&M-Commerce. He was hired from within the program after serving Spring 2022 as the defensive graduate assistant and transitioned to an offensive graduate assistant during the 2022 season. Williams was promoted to safeties coach in February 2023.
 
Since arriving to A&M-Commerce, Williams has helped mentor and coach first team All-Southland players in Andrew Armstrong (Wide Receiver), BJ Busbee (Returner), Daryion Taylor (Safety), and Max Epps (Safety). As well as two players being recognized as All-Americans, Andrew Armstrong (HERO Sports Sophomore) and Max Epps (AP Third Team). Williams also helped orchestrate a passing defense that finished its season ranked No. 2 nationally in interceptions (15).
 
Prior to A&M-Commerce, Williams accepted a Texas high school position with Midland High School as the assistant defensive line coach for one season. Before Midland, Williams began his coaching career as a defensive graduate assistant at UT Permian Basin. He also worked with the secondary and defensive line units.
 
Williams began his career in college football as a recruiting assistant for the University of Arkansas football program, under coach Bret Bielema.
 
Williams graduated with his Bachelors in Recreation and Sport Management from Arkansas in 2018 and received his Masters of Business Administration from UT Permian Basin in 2021. 
 
He is son of Kristie Williams.
