Stoner

Josh Stoner

Josh Stoner joined the Texas A&M University-Commerce athletics department as the Director of Sports Performance in June 2016, adding depth the Lions' Athletic Sports Performance department. In his role as Senior Director of Sports Performance, Stoner is responsible for football and softball strength & conditioning as well as the development of a comprehensive and integrated Sports Performance department to provide a Best in Class experience for all student-athletes.
 
Previous to A&M-Commerce, Stoner was at the University of Missouri in his second stint with the program from January 2014 to December 2015 as the Director of Football Strength & Conditioning. He was responsible for football programming and developing and maintaining an athlete-monitoring program with various technologies.
 
Stoner served as Director of Speed, Strength and Conditioning at Coastal Carolina University from February 2012 to January 2014. His primary role was oversight of all speed, strength and conditioning for Chanticleer Athletics, while working specifically with the football program. Stoner also administered the nutritional supplementation program for athletics.
 
Prior to Coastal Carolina University, Stoner was at the University of Missouri from May 2004 to February 2012. During this time he worked with multiple teams including softball, track & field, baseball, as well as the first assistant for football athletic performance. Additional duties were to coordinate the internship program, organize the Mizzou Performance Coaches Clinic and the Mizzou Performance Club, which helped raise funds for athletic performance needs.
 
Stoner served as the assistant director of strength and conditioning at the University of Tulsa from March 2002 to May 2004. He was responsible for assisting with the player development program for football as well as for women's basketball, men's soccer, men's tennis, women's tennis and the cross country/track and field teams. He was also a Graduate Assistant at the University of Southern Mississippi from January 2000 to December 2001. He assisted with the player development for football and men's basketball as well as directing the programs for women's soccer, volleyball and softball.
 
Stoner also served as the strength and conditioning coach at his alma mater, Centenary College of Louisiana, where he was responsible for all of its athletic teams.
 
In April 2014, Stoner was recognized as a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association. The MSCC is the highest honor that can be achieved as a strength & conditioning coach. It represents professionalism, knowledge, experience, expertise, as well as longevity in the field.
 
He is the co-author of the book titled Complete Conditioning for Football which was published in 2012 by Human Kinetics. He was also a contributor to the book Winning Kids with Sport by Dr. Rick McGuire, also published in 2012 by Championship Productions.
 
Stoner received an undergraduate degree in 1999 with a double major in applied science and health and exercise science from Centenary College of Louisiana. He completed a master's degree in exercise science at Southern Mississippi in 2001. Stoner holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.
 
Stoner is married to the former Christin Lawrence from Bossier City, La. They have two sons, Jarrett and Jackson.  He grew up in nearby Denton, Texas.
