Paul Johnston joined the A&M-Commerce football staff in the July of 2018 as the Director of Football Operations. Paul will also be serving as an Offensive Quality Control assistant and in recruiting East Texas.
Prior to joining the Lion Football staff, Johnston has worked as a Texas high school football coach in both public and private schools for twenty-two years. For five of those years, he coached as a coordinator and for eight of those years he was a head football coach. As a head coach, his teams won three district championships and made one trip to the state final game. Coach Johnston was named district Coach of the Year twice and regional Coach of the year once. Â
Johnston lives in Rockwall with his wife Lyenda and their daughter Rylie. They have two other children – Mychal and Clint and three grandchildren – Olivia, Wren and Henry.
