Tim Bleil joined the football staff at Texas A&M-Commerce prior to the 2016 season, coaching running backs and tight ends (also known in Commerce as the A-back).
During the 2017 season under Bleil, Vincent Hobbs was named First Team All-Conference. He had the fourth most receptions in the entire LSC during the season and was a pivotal player in the Lions' run to an NCAA Championship. Carandal Hale was also named Honorable Mention All-LSC as the Lions averaged nearly 100 yards per game on the ground. Hale was fourth in the LSC, gaining 1,188 all-purpose yards. The Lions had 17 rushing touchdowns and averaged 3.7 yards per rush. Tight end Austin Jordan also received an All-LSC Honorable Mention award as the team's primary long snapper.
During the 2016 season under Bleil, Richard Cooper led the Lone Star Conference in yards per carry and finished with 1,004 rushing yards. The team averaged 4.9 yards per rush attempt and averaged 147.6 rushing yards per game. Cooper was third in the LSC in rushing yards and fourth in all-purpose yards.
Under Bleil, Cooper was named First Team All-LSC. Tight end John Thomas received Second Team All-LSC Honors and tight end Austin Jordan received an All-LSC Honorable Mention award as the team's primary long snapper.
Bleil joins the Lions after successful stint as the receivers coach at West Virginia State. With Bleil on the staff, West Virginia State matched their 2011 through 2014 win total of five with five wins during the 2015 season.
There he coached Quiton Gray who led the league in reception yards per game and catches per game. Gray was named all-conference following the season.
Bleil follows in his family’s footsteps of coaching the Lions. His brother Kevin Bleil was on Coach Carthel’s staff in 2013 and 2014.
