Maggie McCarrick arrived at East Texas A&M University as the associate athletic trainer for football in June 2026. She oversees all aspects of healthcare for the football team, focusing on the prevention, treatment, and clinical rehabilitation of athletic injuries. McCarrick acts as a key liaison between student-athletes, coaching staff, and the team medical team. She coordinates closely with team orthopedic physicians and sports performance staff to manage post-surgical rehabilitation plans, modify weight room activities, and organize weekly on-campus injury checks.

Additionally, she supervises and mentors student athletic trainers and graduate assistants within the sports medicine department.

McCarrick previously served as the head athletic trainer for Football at Indiana State. She was with the Sycamores from 2022 to 2024 having also served as an assistant athletic trainer for the football and golf programs. In the summer of 2022, she completed an athletic training internship with the NFL's Indianapolis Colts, where she assisted with practice coverage and provided advanced manual therapies to professional athletes. She also gained elite-level collegiate experience during a football athletic training internship at Stanford University during the 2019–2020 academic year.

McCarrick completed her undergraduate studies at Western Carolina, earning a bachelor of science in athletic training in May 2020.

She later earned her master of science in exercise science from Indiana State in May 2022, serving concurrently as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the football, cross country, and track and field programs. She is fully certified by the NATA Board of Certification and has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association since 2016. Originally from North Carolina, McCarrick grew up alongside her older and younger brothers. Outside of her time on the sidelines and in the training room, she loves spending time with her family and embraces her favorite role as a proud new "auntie" to twin girls.
