Ted Rawlings joined the Lion basketball coaching staff in May 2019. He had previously served as the director of basketball operations at George Mason since June 2016.

In his time at Mason, Rawlings was responsible for planning all aspects of team travel as well as assisting in the daily logistics of practice, facility scheduling, film exchange and camp sessions. He was part of a staff that guided the Patriots to their highest-ever Atlantic 10 Conference finish, their first 20-win season in four years, their first A-10 Tournament win, and a ranking as one of the 20 most-improved teams in the nation.

The Patriots had three NABC All-District picks, three all-A-10 selections, and two A-10 Most Improved Player winners in Rawlings’ tenure.

Rawlings arrived in Fairfax after spending two seasons in the same role at Brown University.

In serving as the Coordinator of Men’s Basketball Operations at Brown, Rawlings was responsible for planning all aspects of team travel as well as assisting in the daily logistics of practice, facility scheduling, film exchange and camp sessions. During Rawlings’ tenure in College Hill, Brown tied a new program record for non-conference wins, highlighted by a victory over cross-town rival Providence. In addition, the Bears featured Cedric Kuakumensah, who graduated as the all-time Ivy League leader in blocked shots.

Prior to his arrival at Brown, Rawlings served as a men’s basketball assistant coach for two seasons at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia under head coach David Pauley. In his first season, he helped lead the Devils to their best mark since 2004, posting a 13-13 record and finished third in the CACC South. In the second season, the program improved to 17-11 and reached the conference semifinals.

While in Philadelphia, Rawlings mentored NABC All-American Garrett Kerr, who was a two-time CACC Player of the Year selection. He finished second in the nation in rebounding and third in scoring.

Rawlings also served as recruiting coordinator and director of player development at the University of the Sciences, evaluating prospects while building relationships with potential student-athletes and high school programs.

Rawlings started his coaching career serving as an assistant coach and recruiting assistant with Haverford College’s men’s basketball team during the 2011-12 season.

Rawlings was also the Director of Lacrosse Operations at the University of Pennsylvania for the men’s and women’s lacrosse programs from 2011-14. He was instrumental in the success of the Quakers during his tenure as the men’s lacrosse team sealed a 2014 Ivy League Tournament Championship, while the women’s program collected three Ivy League Championships and two tournament championships in three seasons.

Rawlings is a 2011 cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English, where he was a goalie for the lacrosse team and a two-year starter and All-CSFL defensive back for sprint football. He also volunteered as a student manager for the men’s basketball team and assisted the director of basketball operations all four seasons. As an undergraduate, Rawlings provided radio broadcasting for the Penn women’s basketball team on the Penn Sports Network and was a sideline reporter for 88.5 WXPN in 2010-11.

Rawlings received a Master’s of Science in Sport Management from Drexel University in 2013 where he graduated summa cum laude.Â
