EAST TEXANS DEFEAT DALLAS U.

The Normalites pounded out a 12 to 0 victory over Dallas University on the local gridiron Saturday. The game was slow because of the many "time outs," and the wet field. It was seldom that a down was made without time being taken out especially in the latter part of the game, and it was quite obvious from the first, that the Normal team outclassed the Dallas squad. It was only by the hardest fighting, aided by fumbles on the State eleven, that the Catholics saved themselves much more scoring than was made.

Time and again the local men were almost over the goal only to lose their chance. This happened five times before Singleton, the fast Normal half pushed over for a touchdown.

Tipton evidently game his men quite a talke between halves, because during the last two periods they made few fumble and recovered all of them -- one recovered by Griffitts resulting in the second touchdown.

The Dallas squad played a fine game, but their fakes and end runs were not very effective. Once they tried the old crisso-cross and gained quite a but, but from then on DeFord and Bradford broke this play up quite effectively. The E.T. squad played straight football, and though several of the line men were not in best of trim, they seldom failed to gain.

Griffitts of E.T.S.N.C. was easily the star of the game. He made a brilliant 50 yard run in the second quarter, and completed a rare pass from Jernigin in the third while he was a consistent ground gainer throughout. Singleton was also consistent player, gaining ground and making splendid tackles at every chance. Jernigin stood out well at quarter, playing in the same brilliant style of his old C.H.S. days. His passing and punting was superb. It would also hardly be fair not to mention Rodgers, the big center, who was knocked out, or Rubarth the fighting captain. Both were not in the best of trim before the game, but they fought every inch of the way.

Morris was the star for Dallas. He completed several small passes and was quite a dangerous tackle. O'Donahue and Slive also did well.
