FRIDAY'S VICTORY FOR THE LIONS

The Normalites played true to form last Friday and rushed Texas Military College of Terrell to a convincing defeat by the comfortable score of 19-3. From the point of view of the teachers it was a perfect day, and game. First, the game was won. Then there was a big crowd of loyal supporters whom Chief Bad lead in rallying the team, although it was seldom that they needed the rallying.

Parsons kicked to Terrell for the opening play and Zinnecker recovered the ball. However, it was soon lost on a fumble, and this kept little Breckenridge from pushing his men over for the first touch down in less than seven minutes. He did it in just that long, for Terrell had to kick and after a twenty-five yard pass Singleton to DeFord, "Breck" worked his backs unmercifully and let Captain Singleton carry the ball seven yards for the privilege of placing the globule behind the attempt at the goal. First down was attempt at the goal. First down was made four times over the men of Terrell in making this score. Parsons kicked to Terrell once more but again it was recovered by Perry Fite, and the Normalites started another drive, using Baker and Singleton almost constantly, only trying to pass now and then to keep things from getting monotonous. E.T. fumbled just before the end of the quarter, but Biggers intercepted a pass for five yards.

Once again Singleton, Baker and DeFord rushed the ball down the field and finally the excited drive against time was terminated by Parsons making a twenty yard run which was followed by a beautiful forty-five yard pass, DeFord to E. Fite, resulting in the second touchdown Parsons failed on the goal again.

At the start of the second half Wheeler went in for Breckenridge and Blevins, who has been injured, took Zinnecker's place. Terrell kicked to E. Fite, who carried the bit of hide back fifteen yards. A series of fumbles and good kicking soon placed Terrell on the Lion twenty yard line, as near as they ever got, and then a beautiful drop kick carried the ball between the goal post for three points.

Terrell kicked to Parsons and Biggers recovered a freak pass for forty yards. Benton went in at this juncture, for the hard worked Baker. Wheeler worked his men down the field by using DeFord, Nelson and Parsons, and finally DeFord made a spectacular end run for the third touchdown. He then tried kicking the goal and succeeded.

The fourth quarter was mostly airial work. Terrell kicked out of the gridiron and park, also completing several short passes. Blevins recovered a neat punt and Wheeler earned the ball twenty yards on an end run, and then completed a pass for thirty yards. Biggers completed a ten yard pass and the game ended with the apple on Terrell's ten yard line.

The game was clean, and spectacular. Only two penalties were made and they were for off-side plays. DeFord was easily the star of the game, but Singleton was the most consistent ground gainer with seventy-seven yards to his credit. Baker made four first downs and thirty-six yards in three quarters.

The Lions made thirteen first downs while they were held a scant half dozen times. Fumbles were their costliest fault, although none of them were made the most of. Terrell made greater punts, but Parsons placed all of his where he wanted them and his men's work at recovery was phenomenal. The little quarters, Breckenridge and Wheeler, were at their best, while the line was "also nothing else.' The felines should easily tear S. H. N. I. to pieces Thursday, and they figure that they will. Some Lions.
