Friday afternoon at the City Park the East Texas State Normal football team defeated the Durant Normal by the score of fourteen to seven. The first half of the game characterized by straight football while in the closing stages punting and passing was used extensively. Both sides were fighting all the time from the opening whistle until the closing one. Gains were as scarce as one hundred dollar bills on a village collection plane.
This game proves beyond all doubt that Coach Jernigin has developed the best football squad that the local school has ever had. Out of the four games East Texas has played that hve only lost one and that one was by the meager score of two to nothing. To try to pick stars in Friday's game would be the height of folly but the playing of Holly and a find fifty-five yard run by Flewhardy in the second quarter deserve commendable mention. Roberts and WItt played a great game for Durant despite the fact that both the men went into the game in a crippled condition.
