Despite hitting .245 the Texas
A&M University-Commerce volleyball team dropped a 19-25, 25-13,
14-25, 25-23, 15-12 decision to host Cameron on Saturday afternoon
in Lawton, Oklahoma.
A&M-Commerce (22-8, 7-4 LSC)
saw its four-match winning streak and stretch of five wins in a row
in five-set contests end in the contest. Three Lions including
junior Naomi Mays had double-digit kills but it
was not enough. Mays had a match-high 21 and Alyssa
Oberle and Terra Ousley each ahad 11 and
10, respectively. Perla Faudoa had a double
double with 48 assists and 10 digs as well as four block assists.
Cameron (16-11, 4-7 LSC) was led by
Nikita Abbott and received two double double performances by
Lindsay Pazluk and Adrienne Lawson in the win. Abbott had a
team-high 16 kills and hit a team-best .343 in the win. Pazluk had
14 kills and 11 digs and Lawson had 16 digs and 12 kills for the
Aggies.
The Lions took the opening set by a
25-19 on the strength of hitting at a .212 clip. Cameron came back
and dominated the second set to win by a 25-13 margin and at a .382
average as well as forcing the Lions attack to hit at a -.033
percentage.
With the match tied at one and
following the intermission, the Lions answered in the third set to
hit .417 and the Aggies hit -.037 as A&M-Commerce took a two
sets to one advantage.
Cameron came back to win the next
two sets as they had just three hitting errors and hit .457 in a
fourth set victory and .385 in the final set for the win.
