The Texas A&M
University-Commerce volleyball team posted a 25-15, 18-25, 28-26,
25-19 win over East Central on Thursday night at the
A&M-Commerce Field House.
The win improves the Lions to 24-8
overall and an 8-4 mark in the Lone Star Conference. The 24 wins in
a season are the most since the 2000 squad finished the year with
24 wins. The eight conference wins are the most since 1995 for
A&M-Commerce.
A&M-Commerce (24-8, 8-4 LSC)
had three players with double digit kills and two individuals that
recorded double double performances. Leading the attack for the
Lions was freshman Rachel Robertson and junior
Naomi Mays, who each had a match-high 16 kills.
Senior Alyssa
Oberle (pictured by Jared Horn) had her
first double double of the season with 14 digs and 10 kills to go
along with a career and match-high four service aces. Senior
Perla Faudoa had a match-high 49 assists to go
along with 17 digs and six kills; plus, senior Lauren
Flynn had a match-high 33 digs in the win.
As a team, the Lions hit at a .280
clip and had eight service aces in the win. The .280 clip is the
sixth highest on the season and the eight service aces are tied for
the third most on the season.
East Central (14-20, 5-7 LSC) had a
balanced attack as Emily Holombek paced four Tigers who had double
digit kills with a team-high 14. Jacqueline Sparks had a double
double in the loss with 13 digs and 10 kills.
The Lions will close out the
regular season on Saturday at 2 pm as they host Southeastern
Oklahoma State.
