It was only the second loss of season for the Lions at the Field House. It marked the first time that Texas A&M-Commerce Head Coach Sam Walker had lost twice in a season to Cameron in his coaching career. Walker is 12-4 all-time against Cameron.
Brad Hambrick buried a three-pointer with 1:02 left in regulation to pull the Lions within two points at 73-71. However, the Aggies canned seven free shots to seal the win in the final minute.
The loss drops Texas A&M-Commerce (16-8, 6-4 SLC North) into a tie with Cameron (16-9, 6-4 SLC North) for second in the North Division of the Lone Star Conference.
Milton Garner posted a game-high 26 points to led the way for the Aggies, Dylan Gilliam tossed in 19, Desmond Henry tallied 14 and Nathan Murray added 10.
Labree Sledge dropped in a team-high 15 points for the Lions,
Austin Brown contributed 13,
Desmond King chipped in with 11 and
Preston Whitley had 10. The Lions had seven different players connect beyond the three-point arc.
Cameron outrebounded Texas A&M-Commerce 47-29.
Texas A&M-Commerce will play its fifth game in 10 days when they host Southeastern Oklahoma on Monday night at the Field House for an 8 o'clock tip off.
