COMMERCE, Texas – The Lion soccer team wasted little time and left little doubt in a 6-2 win over the visiting Eagles of Oklahoma Christian. The Lions had a majority of shots, chances, corner's and possession throughout the game.

The six goals by the Lions are the most the team has scored since beating Texas A&M-International 8-0 back in 2009. Six different Lions scored and eight different Lions registered a point.

Samantha Huston got the scoring going in the sixth minute off a feed from Savannah Henderson after she received a pass from Jade Bell from the right wing. The goal was Huston's second of the season. Henderson then found Bell with a flick that Bell put into the back of the net in 12th minute of play for her third of the season.

Estefania Bermudez Delgado made it a one goal lead when she got her foot on a cross that found its way through a host of players to get the Eagles on the board in the 24th minute.

Huston and Anitra Wright had chances to make it 3-1 Lions but were stopped by Lindsey Williams, who cam on for starter Anna Walker, in the 29th and 30th minutes. Three minutes later the Eagle tied it with Kelsey Taylor finding a ball inside the box and beating Emalee McMillan in the Lion net.

Just before the half the Lions took the lead back thanks to Vicky Back. Back got a pass from Henderson and beat Williams to make it 3-2 Lions heading into the halftime break.

Coming out of the break the Lions wasted in even less time than the first half when Catie Hyde headed one home off a corner kick from Henderson. The assist was Henderson's fourth on the night and the goal was Hyde's first of the season.

The Lions dominated the flow of the play in the second half and had chances to make the lead bigger and then did when Callie Annett got a throw in from Ashley Phillips after a Lion corner and beat Walker, who came back on at the start of the second half.

The final tally on the night came from Bailey Phillips when headed home a bouncing ball off a Phillips throw in in the 75 minute. Phillips came on less than a minute before she scored the goal.

The Lions generated 23 shots for the second straight game and 13 of those were on goal. Emalee McMillan was the beneficiary of the offensive support by getting a win in her first colligate win in her first start in net for the Lions.

Next up for the Lions are the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist. The game is a make up of a postponement from earlier in the season. Game time is set for 1:30 pm in Arkadelphia, Arkansas on Tuesday.
