FRISCO – Two East Texas A&M University soccer players have earned Southland Conference Player of the Week honors on Friday afternoon with Allyson Reed being named Offensive Player of the Week and Judith Nandwa being named Defensive Player of the Week.

The Lions have earned their first honors of the season, with Reed (Cleburne) having scored two goals last week to help the Lions clinch a postseason berth. She had a goal in the second half at both UTRGV last Sunday and at home against SFA on Thursday night.

Nandwa (Mumias, Kenya) helped the Lions shutout UTRGV last Sunday and played SFA to a draw on Thursday as the Lions captured four points in the two matches.

The Lions are the seventh seed in the conference tournament that begins on Tuesday at the Lion Soccer Field in Commerce. East Texas A&M's first matchup comes against second seed HCU at 7 p.m. in the first round on Tuesday.
