COMMERCE, Texas – After 104 minutes of scoreless soccer, senior Brionna Minde put in a rebound off a Vicky Back penalty kick attempt, giving the Lions a hard-fought 1-0 win over Ouachita Baptist at Lion Soccer Field. With the win, A&M-Commerce improves to 9-4-1 on the year, assuring itself of a winning season.

In a game that had been rescheduled three different times due to weather delays, A&M-Commerce used a perfect Wednesday afternoon to control the tempo for the majority of the game. The Lions outshot the Tigers 23-5, including a 12-1 edge in the first half, as A&M-Commerce put 13 of its attempts on goal.

Despite the shot discrepancy, the Lions continued to miss the back of the net as Ouachita Baptist goalkeeper Sarah Broyles recorded 12 saves on the afternoon. Minde led the way with four shots on goal with Samantha Huston and Vicky Back each firing a pair on net.

The Lions had a few key chances throughout the game and kept possession on its end of the field for the duration of the game, but the teams found themselves scoreless after 90 minutes of play. The Lions fired three more shots in the first overtime period but were unable to convert.

With 6:23 remaining in the second overtime period, Ouachita Baptist was called for a penalty inside the penalty area, setting up a penalty kick for Back. Broyles anticipated where Back would go, making the initial save, but wasn't able to control the rebound as Minde stuck the rebound shot inside the near post to give A&M-Commerce the 1-0 victory.

Freshman Emalee McMillan recorded her first collegiate shutout and second win of her young career in her second start, recording a pair of saves.

A&M-Commerce now returns to Lone Star Conference play, making the short trip down Highway 380 to battle rival Texas Woman's on Friday, October 25. The Lions are looking for the season sweep against the Pioneers as opening kick is set for 7 p.m. from Denton.
