FIRST SERVE
The Lions will look to rebound this week after a tough loss to A&M-Kingsville this past weekend. However this will be a tough week to get back on the right track with dates against two Top 15 teams in Angelo State and West Texas and an improved Eastern New Mexico side from a season ago.

SERIES SCORE
Angelo State has had A&M-Commerce's number in recent years, winning seven in a row over the past five years. The Lions have not won at home versus the Rambelles since 2001, which spans just five home matches in the last 13 years. The same story could be said for the Lions when they face the Lady Buffs. The Lions have dropped six in row to West Texas and have only won one set in those six matches. The Last home win for the Lions over the Lady Buffs came back in 2009 in a 3-0 sweep. The Lions have found success historically against the Zias including winning the last four matches and only dropping two sets in the process. Eastern has only two wins in the last nine contests between the two schools.

SCOUTING THE RAMBELLES
Angelo is coming into the match losing their last outing versus West Texas in four sets (25-22, 25-23, 20-25, 25-15). Prior to the loss the Rambelles were winners of five straight with four of those wins coming over Lone Star Conference opponents. All three of the Rambelles' losses have to ranked opponents; then fourth ranked Concordia-St. Paul, then number 14 Southwest Minnesota State and number 11 West Texas. Maddie Huth and Arielle Bond lead the attack for Angelo State. Both players are averaging three kills per set and ranked fourth and sixth respectively in the LSC. Quaterbacking the offense is Magg Jo Keffury, who is second in the LSC in assists per set with 11.31 right behind Lion Jordan Neal.  So far this season Keffury has dished out 543 assists in 48 sets so far.

SCOUTING THE LADY BUFFS
The Lady Buffs are winners of eight straight heading into the match with the Lions. With the streak the Lady Buffs are now number nine in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll released this week. Two of the three losses for West Texas have come to ranked opponents; then number one Tampa and then number 21 Regis (Colo.). The other loss came to Florida Southern who is receiving votes in the AVCA Poll this week. Pacing the Lady Buff attack are Halie Harton and Lauren Bevan, who are averaging 2.77 and 2.67 kills per set respectively. On defense it is Laura Iwuchukwu and Lexi Davis, who are averaging over a block per set each. Iwuchukwu leads all of Division II in blocks per set with her 1.77 average.

SCOUTING THE ZIAS
After a sweep of Midwestern State, the Zias have now lost three straight and have been swept in all three by Lubbock Christian, Angelo State and Tarleton State. Eastern New Mexico takes on Texas Woman's before hosting the Lions on Saturday. Lauren Frye and Courtney Lawson lead the Zia attack with 3.15 and 3.04 kills per set average respectively. Setter, Katta Day, controls the offense with her 412 assists – 8.77 average – this season for the Zias.

LIONS CLIMBING UP ALL-TIME LISTS
Senior setter, Jordan Neal is now just 201 assists shy of tying Melissa Staiger and
202 from becoming the all-time leader in assists. Neal is also moving up the service aces list. Currently, Neal sits sixth all-time with 123 aces and 28 away from Melanie Rea's career record of 151. Kayla Bond has now cracked the Top 10 in total blocks with 244 and now sits 10th. Bond is also eighth on the Block Assists all-time list with 200 and is 55 behind Belinda Hess-Shepherd's mark.

NEAL AMONG NATIONS BEST
Heading into this week's action Jordan Neal currently sits fifth in Division II in assists per set with her 11.79 average. Neal also leads the LSC in assists per set.

LIONS AMONG LSC LEADERS
Amy Davault continues to lead the LSC in kills per set – 3.61 – and is second in service aces per set – 0.35. Bond is fourth in hitting percentage - .320 and the Lions continue to own five of the Top 10 in services per set.

SNYDER KILLS
Breanne Snyder has recorded 10 plus kills in five of the last six matches for the Lions.
