AUSTIN, Texas – A&M-Commerce's lead last only 2:55 then St. Edward's took it and never let it go. The Hilltoppers forced 24 Lion turnovers and converted them in to 24 points and held the Lions scoreless from behind the arc to cruise to the 38-point win.

The Lions were unable to the any offense going outside of Breanna Harris and Abigail Leaupepe-Tele. Harris started where she let off last season in posting a double-double. Harris finished with 20 points, 12 rebounds and a block. Leaupepe-Tele recorded her first career double-double in her first game in two years with 20 points and 11 rebounds and a block.

The rest of the Lions combined for 17 points on five of 35 shooting – 12.5%.

A layup from Kathleen Brisbane gave the Hilltoppers a 4-3 lead at the 16:18 mark of the first half and the Hilltoppers would remain on top until the final buzzer sounded. After the under 12 media timeout, St Edward's went on an 18-6 run to take a 33-16 lead to put the game out of reach. Maddie Wheeler put a layup in on the break to stretch the lead to 22, 43-21, and the largest lead of the first half.

Coming out of the break the Lions tried to get something going but they could not get into a synce offensively and get some second chance points. The Lions cut the lead to 19 twice but A&M-Commerce could not get any closer.

After the half way mark of the second half the Hilltoppers started to extended their lead. Four free throws from Brisbane pushed the lead to 29, 77-48. The Hilltoppers then pulled away in the final minute to eventually win by 38.

The Lions continue their road schedule to start the season with a road trip to Southeastern Oklahoma on Tuesday. The home opener for the Lions is on Thursday November 14 versus A&M-International.
