COMMERCE, Texas – The Lions put five players in double figures and A&M-Commerce never trailed in the second half, picking up a 99-78 win over Angelo State on Saturday at The Field House.

The win was the largest for the Lions (15-8, 4-7 LSC) over the Rams (16-7, 6-5 LSC) since the 1997-98 season and evens up the season series at 1-1 after ASU held on for a two-point win in San Angelo on Jan. 12.

Devondrick Walker poured in 19 of his game-high 22 points in the opening period, hitting four threes and dishing out five assists without a turnover in 35 minutes of action.
Christian Macauley just missed a double-double, finishing with a career-high 19 points to go with nine rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.

Freshman
De'Andre Carson also got his sixth start of the season, and his first since the Jan. 12 meeting with the Rams in San Angelo, and responded by putting in 14 points, including going 8-for-10 from the foul line.
Tyrie Wooten also added 15 points, and
LaDon Carnegie had 12 points and four rebounds for the game, despite fouling out late.

The four threes from Walker was half of the Lions' total for the game as they hit eight of their 19 tries, but once again made hey at the foul line, connecting on 33 of their 39 free throws for the game, tying a season high as a team with the 33 makes.

Meanwhile, ASU was just 14-for-23 from the foul stripe and 6-for-15 from beyond the arc for the game. They were led by Tommy Woolridge's 20 points, leading four Rams in double figures, including Kenny Williams who finished with 17 points and eight rebounds.

The Lions were sharp offensively in the opening half, hitting better than 62 percent from the floor behind Walker's 19-point effort. They finished the half on a 17-4 run, getting threes from Walker and Carnegie in that span and led by as much as 17 on Walker's fourth triple with less than a minute to play in the period.

The second half saw the Lions and Rams exchange blows, but A&M-Commerce repeatedly answered Ram buckets with buckets of their own. The Lions shot just 42.3 percent in the second period and made just a pair of triples – both from
Daniel Ehambe – but never led by less than 10 points at any instance in the second 20 minutes, upping its lead to as much as 21 with just over a minute to play.

The Lions next host Eastern New Mexico on Wednesday at The Field House with the game coming on the back end of a doubleheader with the Lion women's team, which is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
