AUSTIN, Texas – C.J. Clem dropped five shots off his opening-round total and carded a three-over park 75 in the second round of the NCAA Division II Super Regional on Tuesday at Grey Rock Golf Club.
Â
Clem, who was up and down with three birdies and seven bogeys on Monday in his opening-round 80, steadied the ship on Tuesday. The senior from Rockwall did not card worse than a bogey on the day, and picked up a birdie at the par-4 fourth hole.
Â
Starting with an early 8:20 a.m. tee time on the back nine, Clem made par on seven of his first eight holes, only finding bogey on 12 and 18 in making the turn in 38 (+2). He followed that with pars on 1 and 2 before making bogey on three; however, he quickly made up for that with a birdie on the very next hole and carded pars the rest of the way in, with the exception of a bogey on the par-4 sixth hole.
Â
Clem will enter the third round at +11 and in a tie for 76th place. Colin Prater of Colorado Mesa and Enrique Livas of St. Edward's currently lead the tournament at one under par.
Â
He will have a 8:40 a.m. tee time on Wednesday off of the 10th hole, paired with Nick Hardy of Northwest Nazarene, Taylor Hood of Cal State-San Bernadino, Steven DaSilva of Regis and James Bolton of Newman.
