COMMERCE,TEXAS- The A&M-Commerce Volleyball won a thrilling five set match over Midwestern State on Saturday night. The Lions hitting percentage was .262 compared to the Mustangs who had a hitting percentage of .172.

In the first set the Lions were trailing 15-8. Amy Devault came up with a huge kill that sparked a run where the Lions scored eight of the next nine points to take the lead 19-17. During that run
Taryn Driver had two big kills one that gave the Lions a 17-16 lead en route to a 25-20 A&M-Commerce set one win.

The Lions jumped on top of Midwestern State early in the second set. Midwestern State would spark a run of its own following a block by Sarah Rosinke the Mustangs would go on a 3-0 run and tie the match at 16. The Mustangs put away the second set following another kill by Rosinke.

The third set was back and forth it featured eight ties and four different lead changes. The Lions trailed late in the set 20-19, but kills by Davault and
Sydney Reyes would give A&M-Commerce a 21-20 lead. However, it wouldn't be enough as MSU was able to squeeze out a 26-24 third set victory.

In the fourth set with the Lions trailing blocks by Davault and Reyes gave the lions a 13-11 lead. A lead the Lions would never give up, as A&M-Commerce would win 25-22 and force a fifth set.

With A&M-Commerce trailing 13-12 in a nail-biting fifth set Driver would again come up big with back-to-back kills that would give the Lions a 14-13 lead. However, the Mustangs would not go away quietly tying the set at 15. A
Neka Nelson kill would finally slam the door on MSU as the Lions would go onto win the set 17-15, and get a huge Lone Star Conference win.

The Lions had four players with double digit kills
Amy Davault lead the way with her fifth consecutive double-double picking up 20 kills, and 18 digs. Driver added 13 kills and Nelson 12 kills and Reyes 11 kills.

Courtney Tate had a double-double she had a game-high 63 assists, and contributed 19 digs. Defensively
Ashley Mireles lead the team with 21 digs, and
Lacie Jessup added 15 digs.

The Lions next match will be on Tuesday, September 23 against Texas Woman's game time is at 7 p.m.
