Box Score 2 CAYNON, TEXAS -- The Lions volleyball team dropped two matches Saturday afternoon at the Britkare Lady Bluff Classic against Colorado Mesa, 3-0, and Regis University, 3-0.

First Match
Colorado Mesa got off to a quick start in the first set with 15 team kills and a hitting percentage of .500 percent en route to a 25-15 win over A&M Commerce.

The Lions fell behind early trailing 11-4 in set two, but were able to cut the lead to 11-8. However, Colorado Mesa pulled away taking set two 25-17.

In the third set the Lions took a big lead.
Taryn Driver had a kill that made it 6-1 A&M-Commerce. Colorado Mesa mounted a big run and to take a 14-13 lead. a lead they would never give up. Colorado Mesa took the third set 25-19 to earn the sweep.

Colorado Mesa held a 48 to 30 advantage in kills over the Lions.

Sydney Reyes led A&M-Commerce with 9 kills, and a .421 killing percentage, and
Courtney Tate had a team high 26 assists. Driver had a match-high six total blocks, all six were block assists.

Second Match

In the first set, the Lions had an early lead 5-2 lead, but Regis University was able to take the lead at 12-11 as they held on to take the first set 25-21.

The second set, saw 10 ties and three lead changes, but Regis University ran away with the set late winning 25-19. Regis out killed the Lions 14 to 11.

Regis completed the sweep with a 25-11 set three win. Regis had a killing percentage of .373 compared to .156 for A&M Commerce in the final frame.

Davault had a team high 12 kills, and Tate led the team with 16 assists.

The Lions open up their conference season on Tuesday, September 9 at Tarleton State at 7 p.m. They will host the A&M-Commerce Classic Friday, September 12, and Saturday, September 13.
